While encoding is performed on magnetic material ranging from 300 to 4000 Oe, bit density reaches 20 to 210 BPI using either F2F or split-face modulation at speeds of up to 2 meters per second. The patented encoding system verifies any written data and sets a threshold for amplitude and jitter to sort out faulty products. The read-back waveforms for faulty products are then stored and can be viewed for easy error handling.
