Serialize with an optimized workflow
- Serializing, control weighing, and tamper-evident labeling – the new track & trace system MEDILINE T&T from Atlantic Zeiser optimizes the workflow in extremely small shopfloors and ensures process reliability.
- This allows optimal use of cost-intensive device spaces.
- The system can be reconfigured especially quickly in terms of coding positions and folding carton sizes.
- In addition to an integrated line manager, MEDILINE T&T is equipped with an interface for the MEDTRACKER software for comprehensive management of serialization data – if required, up to ISA Level 4.
Serialization, tamper-evident, and checkweigher requirements can be adhered to in a single, workflow-optimized step. Atlantic Zeiser is introducing the newly developed track & trace system MEDILINE T&T at Interpack 2017 (Hall 16, Stand A47). If required, the system comes with integrated checkweigher and tamper-evident labeler. The integrated interface to the MEDTRACKER software allows the process-reliable serialization of filled folding cartons. “Many pharmaceutical manufacturers face challenges in adapting packaging lines to new requirements in a timely manner while maintaining productivity. These requirements involve not only the obligation to serialize, but, in many cases, tamper-evident functionality as well,” says Stefan Rowinski, Product Manager for Atlantic Zeiser. “The new MEDILINE T&T offers a complete solution to these challenges, one in which the individual functional modules are perfectly attuned to one another. In this way, existing individual solutions, for checkweighers or the application of temper-evident labels, for instance, can be replaced and space utilization optimized.”
New quick-change device
In addition to a very compact design, there was a special focus on flexibility during development so that the user could switch quickly to different formats or coding requirements. For example, the new quick-change device allows the position of the camera and printer unit to be changed without tools or other components in a few steps that take only minutes. This minimizes setup time and makes it unnecessary to invest in a second camera and printer unit. “This always plays a role when lots of job and format changes are necessary and the coding of products is not always performed at the same position on the folding carton, but varies from product to product,” says Rowinski. The extremely precise transport mechanism ensures efficiency and safety: even at extremely high throughputs – up to 350 packages per minute – high-quality, reproducible coding results can be achieved.
Open interfaces for ERP systems
In addition to the integrated line manager, the MEDILINE T&T is equipped with an interface for the Atlantic Zeiser MEDTRACKER software. This allows central allocation, storage, and forwarding of jobs and unique serial numbers and ensures the highest levels of process reliability – even across multiple production lines or locations simultaneously. MEDTRACKER is also able to communicate with ERP systems through open interfaces – if necessary, at ISA Level 4.
Up to 350 folding cartons per minute
The design of the new MEDILINE T&T, thought through to the smallest detail, was developed with an eye to the current GMP guidelines, and thus addresses such concerns as easy accessibility, line clearance, and convenient cleaning. The selection of recipes and the intuitive controls for all functions are performed with a central touchscreen. The MEDILINE T&T, equipped with a cartridge-based printing system, reaches production speeds of up to 350 folding cartons per minute with a print resolution of 600 dpi. If required, the monitoring camera and sensors ensure reliable ejection into a collecting bin that can be emptied during operation. Another labeling unit, such as one for toll stickers or Bollini, can be integrated, as also other printing heads and cameras, for affixing helper codes, for instance.
