- An innovative solution from Atlantic Zeiser allows users to encode very different packaging sizes – without requiring any significant format changes.
- The MEDILINE Track & Trace Single Item allows for economic serialization of small batches and different formats on a very small footprint.
- If required, the height of the printer and inspection camera can be adjusted, which makes the position of the code variable.
When talking about “serialization solution”, most will think of complex systems that process many packages within a very short time. In fact, however, there are many pharmaceutical manufacturers, CMOs, and packaging service providers who often only need to serialize relatively small quantities in a wide range of formats. Atlantic Zeiser has therefore now developed a solution capable of coding very different carton sizes without requiring any significant format changes. The MEDILINE Track & Trace Single Item, in short MEDILINE T&T SI, is fully equipped with software, a printer, and a camera system for 100% verification. This manual solution features the same printing and inspection technology as the “big” automatic MEDILINE T&T systems that are successfully established in the market. The new table top system now allows for especially economic serialization of small batches. It can be positioned very flexibly: if required, it can even be operate offline in batch-mode. The system is very easy to operate, requiring minimal training. “Thereby, the MEDILINE T&T SI enables users to comfortably serialize 10 to 20 cartons per minute”, says Stefan Rowinski, Product Manager at Atlantic Zeiser. As long as the printing can be done at the same height, no more specific adjustments are needed except for a possible change of the stopping point – regardless of the packaging size which can range from very small cartons to shoebox-sized packs. “If required, the height of the printer and inspection camera can be adjusted, which makes the position of the code variable”, explains Rowinski. With an optional barcode scanner and a label printer, the MEDILINE T&T SI can be extended for handling manual aggregation tasks.
The integrated Line Manager ensures audit-proof serialization, while HP cartridge technology provides for excellent print quality. The standard print width of one inch allows for printing of up to four lines according to GS1. All components are controlled via a central graphic user interface. The changeover to new recipes is quick and easy via drag & drop. As the printer layout and inspection camera are linked via the system, no further camera settings must be adjusted. To ensure maximum process security, a barcode scanner can be used for order selection.
